Welcome to the FAQ section of Wonder'neath! We are delighted to have you here and share in the excitement surrounding The Sketchbook Project's collection of Canadian Sketchbooks, now housed at Wonder'neath.

Wonder’neath’s co-Founders Melissa Marr and Heather Wilkinson have long been passionate admirers of The Sketchbook Project. They’ve actively participated in the project by submitting their own sketchbooks, visiting the Brooklyn Art Library, and are now eager to support its legacy.

In this FAQ section, we aim to address any questions or concerns you may have about the collection, its preservation, and our ongoing efforts to expand its reach. We understand the significance of these sketchbooks and are dedicated to ensuring their safety and accessibility for artists, enthusiasts, and future audiences.

Whether you're curious about the storage process, updates on specific sketchbooks, or opportunities to contribute, we're here to provide you with the information you need. If you don't find the answers you're looking for, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. We are a small organization that will need extra time to respond.

  • We understand the importance of your sketchbook. Wonder'neath has recently received this new collection and are taking great care to ensure the safety of all the sketchbooks in our possession. However, we have not yet started the process of thoughtfully and safely going through the entire collection, which will be a time-consuming task.

    We kindly ask for your patience during this process, as it will take us a significant amount of time to review each sketchbook thoroughly. Our team is dedicated to handling your sketchbook with the utmost care and attention, and we’ll make every effort to provide updates regarding the progress here on our website and on social media.

  • We understand your concerns regarding the 2022 fire incident. As of now, Wonder'neath is still collaborating with The Sketchbook Project to understand the impact of the fire on the collection. We haven't received an official list of sketchbooks that were lost in the fire, so we won’t be able to offer insight on whether your book is among the 1800 sketchbooks we’ve received. They are being securely stored until we can dedicate time to giving each book attention. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

  • Wonder'neath is fully committed to the preservation and expansion of the Sketchbook Collection. We are actively seeking funding to create customized storage that will ensure long-term care of the sketchbooks. This dedicated storage will be designed to meet the unique requirements of preserving these beautiful books while making them as accessible as they once were through the Brooklyn Art Library. In addition to storage, we are also working on expanding the collection through our programming efforts. This includes unique drop-in programming, events, and other initiatives to showcase the sketchbooks and provide opportunities for artists to contribute to the collection locally.
