Welcome to Wonder’neath Art Society

Wonder’neath is an artist-led arts organization located in the heart of Kjipuktuk (North End Halifax). To learn more about us you can visit our About Us page. Please explore our site to learn about our programs and our history. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We look forward to connecting with you.

Land Acknowledgement

Wonder’neath’s work is based in Mi'kma'ki, on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) and Passamaquoddy Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources but recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) titles and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations. We, as treaty people, are responsible for upholding the fundamental rights of the Mi’kmaq as promised in the Peace and Friendship Treaties. We aim to listen to Indigenous voices and actively participate in the reconciliation process. We acknowledge African Nova Scotians as a distinct people whose significant cultural, historic, and artistic contributions have shaped the communities in which we work for over 400 years.

Wonder’neath Public Programming Calendar

This calendar lists only Wonder’neath programs. For booking availability, please check the calendar on our booking page.

Wonder’neath public programming is closed for the month of September, 2026.

Due to the  Conservative Government’s cuts to the arts in the provincial budget, we must make changes in our own budget that include a reduction of programming sessions. We are trying to limit the impact as much as we can while acknowledging our changing capacity. In the past we have taken time at the end of our summer programming for a short break and planning-  by closing all of September we hope to keep the rest of our fall programming consistent.

We will return to regular Sketch and Open Studio sessions on Friday and Saturday  October, 2 and 3 rd, 2-4:30 and 5-7 pm.

Thanks for your understanding.  Staff will be in the office for inquiries after September 8. We look forward to connecting with you soon!
